A fictional business, built for teaching. Every figure is invented.
Learn it, practice it, and prove it against a written rubric. Where an industry certification exists, we prepare you for it — the awarding body certifies you, not us.
The platform is built — courses, lessons, captions and transcripts, assessment, progress and remediation. No course is published and nobody can enroll yet.
Enrollment needs somewhere for your progress to live and an owner for it. So this page shows you how the Academy works, including what its credentials will and will not claim, rather than a catalog of courses that do not exist.
How every lesson teaches
Six verbs. Every Academy lesson is built from them, and every one is something you do — not something you are told.
01
See it happen before anybody explains it.
The $180 job splits into what it cost and what it kept.
02
Locate it yourself in a real document.
Point to gross profit on a statement nobody has marked up.
03
Assemble it from its parts.
Product, fuel, labor and fees stack into the cost of one job.
04
Read the same page as the people who judge it.
Owner, bank, investor, CPA — four readers, one statement.
05
Make a decision with your own numbers.
Move the price and watch the margin answer.
06
Show the capability, assessed by a person.
A written rubric, your evidence, a recorded result.
Inside a lesson
Another angle, a different analogy, a different order. The explanation changes. Nothing about you does.

Gross margin
Gross margin is the share of a sale that is left after the cost of delivering it.
The same thing, with real figures.
A detail job goes out at $180. Getting it done costs $113 — product, fuel, the four hours and the card fee — so $67 stays with the business. That $67 is the gross margin, and as a share of the sale it is 37%.
It is not profit. The van payment, insurance, advertising and your own wage all come out of that $67. Margin is what is available to pay for running the business at all.
One sale of $180, split. $113 leaves with the job; $67 stays.
One sale, split. The dark bands are what leaving the door costs you; the bright one is what stays.
A one-van mobile detailing business. One full detail, priced at $180.
| What the customer pays | $180 |
|---|---|
| Product and consumables | −$22 |
| Fuel and travel | −$18 |
| The four hours it takes | −$68 |
| Card processing | −$5 |
| Gross margin | $67 (37%) |
$67 of every $180 detail stays in the business. Everything the business needs beyond doing the job — the van payment, insurance, advertising, the phone — comes out of that $67. Two details a day, five days a week, is about $2,900 a month to cover all of it.
A supply run
You are issued fuel for a round trip. The fuel burned getting there and back is the cost of sale — it is gone, and it was never yours to spend on anything else. What is still in the tank when you are back inside the wire is the margin. It is the only fuel available for everything that is not this trip: maintenance, the next tasking, contingency. A run that gets you home with the needle on empty was not a free run, and a sale at zero margin is not a free sale.
Where the analogy stops: fuel is one resource, and a business has several costs that behave differently when volume changes. Lesson 3 separates them.
It does not record a preference, assign you a category, or change what the platform thinks you are capable of.
Captions and a transcript. Every lesson.
Video, writing, diagrams, worked examples, practice.
You do not automatically start over.
The pathway
Learn, practice, prove — then certify where an industry certification exists, and apply it where it counts. Choose a stage.
Learn
The material, taught by somebody who has done the work.
What gets recorded
One says you went through the material. The other says you proved you can do the work — and holds the evidence, dimension by dimension.
No overall score
What you end up holding
Three different things, with three different meanings — and no automatic path from one to the next.
Course completion
You completed the required course.
Awarded by Aim High Hero
It records that you went through the material and nothing else. The credential says so in its own wording rather than in a footnote, because a completion badge that reads like a capability claim costs the person carrying it more than it costs us.
Completion is not competency. Finishing every lesson does not produce this record, because watching is not the same as being able to do it.
Demonstrated competency
You demonstrated the defined capability against an Aim High Hero assessment or rubric.
Awarded by Aim High Hero
Assessed by a person against a written rubric, with the evidence recorded criterion by criterion. A competency claim with no evidence is invalid at the type level — there is no way to construct one. The AI learning support system can never contribute evidence toward it.
Competency is not certification. An Aim High Hero assessment is ours; an industry certification is theirs, and being good at something does not convert one into the other.
External certification
A qualified external organization awarded the certification.
Awarded by An external awarding body
Aim High Hero does not issue industry certifications and must never appear to. The record of one names the awarding body, and the field saying we issued it is fixed to false in the type — no code path can construct a certification with Aim High Hero as the issuer. We prepare you for it, and we record it once you hold it.

The context object the support system receives has no field for a name, an email, a service history, an employer, a placement stage or a résumé, so a request carrying one cannot be built — it is a compile error rather than a policy. A second check inspects the values as well, because free text is where an identifier actually escapes. The support system also never marks graded work and never contributes evidence toward a competency.
